The Day of the Dead River Parade sees record-breaking ticket sales

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Months of work went into transforming the Downtown Riverwalk, including dozens of floats. That's why people line up along the banks of the Riverwalk to see them.

Roslyn Castaneda, River Walk Operations Manager for Visit San Antonio, says today was a busy day for her.

“We want to tell the story, the history of the Day of the Dead and how we currently celebrate it,” Castaneda said.

Alexa Valdivia says this message resonates with her.

“For me it is a great tradition because we can remember all our loved ones who have passed away,” Valdivia said.

That's why she's excited to share the day with 12,000 people who bought tickets to the event.

“The community comes out, they have these great parades, they create these great decorations, San Antonio goes all out, that's why I love my city,” Valdivia said.

Tickets started at $17 and proceeds go toward future free Visit San Antonio events.
