Ridgecrest man arrested after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend and arguing with police

A 41-year-old Ridgecrest man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, stole her purse and argued with officers, Ridgecrest police said.

On Oct. 23, officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1500 block of North Norma Street. When they arrived, officers spoke with a woman who reported that her ex-boyfriend, named Alexander Aguilar, 41, went to her home and allegedly pushed her to the ground. He allegedly stole her purse and other items, police said.

Officers confirmed that the woman had a criminal protection order in place, prohibiting Aguilar from contacting her.

After the incident, Aguilar drove away from the home in a white Toyota Tacoma. Officers were initially unable to find Aguilar, but an automated license plate reader search from FLOCK revealed his location.

Officers found Aguilar heading to his home in the 200 block of South Broadway Street.

When officers arrived at Aguilar's home, they attempted to speak with him, but he refused. The police obtained search and arrest warrants. An emergency vehicle assisted in the arrest warrant.

After more than an hour of attempted negotiations with Aguilar, he continued to refuse to cooperate with officers, police said.

The officers then broke down the front door using the emergency vehicle's ram. Aguilar then surrendered the home, wearing body armor, and was arrested without incident.

During a search of Aguilar's home, officers said they found:

  • Several pounds of marijuana
  • Several ponds full of cocaine
  • Fentanyl suspected
  • Multiple firearms, including a high-powered rifle
  • A large amount of cash

Officials said evidence suggests Aguilar was allegedly involved in drug sales. All drugs, weapons and cash were confiscated as evidence.

Aguilar was arrested and faces multiple charges, including possession of narcotics for the purpose of sale, unlawful possession of a firearm and robbery.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Ridgecrest Police at (760) 499-5100.
