The death toll from the Russian missile attack that hit residential buildings and the Mechnikov Hospital in the central eastern city of Dnipro late on October 25 has risen to four dead and 20 injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.

A police officer, his wife and two daughters were trapped under the rubble of their building after the attack. While his younger daughter was rescued, his wife and eldest daughter were killed, according to state police.

The attack damaged 13 residences, two houses and Mechnikov Hospital, a key hospital treating soldiers who have suffered some of the most serious injuries at the front.

“This war, now in its third year, has only one culprit – Moscow. Therefore, pressure must be exerted on the attacker who is strong enough to force an end to terror and war. Lasting peace and security are achieved only through strength and determination,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said on October 26, condemning the attack.

Local news sources said multiple attacks targeted different areas in the city.

Dnipro, Ukraine's fourth-largest city with a prewar population of about one million, served as a key logistical and humanitarian hub during the full-scale war. It is located about 395 kilometers (245 miles) from Kyiv.
