An update to a recent report from Friday evening about a large police presence at Germantown High School. The following letter is from Germantown Superintendent Dr. Chris Reuter.

Below is a story that ran tonight from 7 p.m

Washington County police and the sheriff are currently sweeping the building after receiving reports of a person at Germantown High School.

There is no confirmation of previous reports on social media that suggested it may be a person with a weapon. As of 7:13 p.m., this is unconfirmed.

This is a working story and more information will be released as details become available.

To remember history: It was October 23, 2023, when a man with a gun climbed onto the roof of Kennedy Middle School and behaved erratically.

Buildings were cordoned off and there was an exchange of gunfire between the person and the police. The subject ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Police Chief Mike Snow said at the time that investigators believed it was an isolated incident in 2023.
