Troy man arrested for alleged possession of child pornography

A Troy man was arrested Wednesday after a multi-agency investigation and the execution of a search warrant reportedly led to authorities discovering images related to child sexual exploitation in his possession.

Andrew W. Squillari, 26, was taken into custody by Brunswick State Police with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to a news release. He was charged with promoting the sexual performance of a child and possessing the sexual performance of a child, both felonies.

State police said the investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Squillari was reportedly arraigned in Troy City Court, where he was remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
