UFC 308 Live Blog: Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev

This is the UFC 308 live blog for Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev, the co-main event this Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

A former middleweight champion, Whittaker's career has been somewhat mixed since he lost the title to Israel Adesanya in 2019. Despite racking up numerous victories at the top of the division, “Bobby Knuckles” repeatedly blundered in key situations, losing his rematch with Adesanya for the title in 2022 and then losing a title eliminator to Dricus du Plessis in 2023. Whittaker is on a winning streak again with the possibility of cementing another title shot if he can find a way to beat Chimaev.

Chimaev entered the UFC just 6-0 during the height of COVID and then became an overnight sensation after winning three fights in just two months while only taking one punch. Things have slowed down since then as Chimaev has struggled more with getting to the fights than the fights themselves, but it looks like “Borz” is ready to get going this weekend if he hopes to to finally secure the title that has been expected of him for so many years.
