Phoenix Suns update Stars vs. Dallas Mavericks status

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns have updated the status of stars Grayson Allen and Bradley Beal ahead of their game Saturday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Beal – who was questionable with an elbow injury – is out tonight.

“I think he got caught in a screen very late in the game. … Hopefully it’s not significant, but we’ll see how he feels,” Budenholzer told Beal before the game.

Allen, who was unable to play for personal reasons, will also miss tonight's game, according to Budenholzer. He said he was “confident” he would be out again before the Suns made it official.

Allen did not play in Friday night's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He previously struggled with an Achilles tendon problem, but was later listed with a personal designation on the injury report.

Allen, one of the league's best three-point shooters last season, was replaced by rookie Ryan Dunn against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Beal played 35 and 38 minutes on the court in both Suns contests. He averaged 19.5 points and five assists in two games.

Beal was part of a Suns team that blew a 22-point lead to the Lakers on Friday night.

“It's kind of a rhythm thing, I guess. It's hard because the ball was popping and moving. “It was like we had easy shots and in the second half we were blocked a lot,” Beal said after the loss.

“We didn’t move the ball much, we didn’t move our bodies much, we didn’t screen. We kind of left out everything that worked for us in the first half. That was definitely frustrating. We did it.” In order to do this better, we have to recognize it locally and change it.”

Josh Okogie is out again with a hamstring injury. He has now missed all three games at the start of the season.
