Kristin Cavallari is opening up about the end of her marriage to Jay Cutler, just days after the former NFL quarterback was arrested for drunk driving in Tennessee.

Cavallari released the latest episode of her podcast “Let's Be Honest” and began with a brief comment on her ex-husband's arrest.

“Really quickly, just before we start the episode, I wanted to jump in here and just let you know that this episode was recorded right before a very public incident last week with my ex-husband, so keep that in mind” as you listen ” she said.

On Thursday, Cutler was charged with DUI, first offense, failure to exercise due care to avoid collision, implied consent and possession of a handgun under the influence in the incident, Franklin police said in a news release. Cavallari and Cutler famously had a tumultuous relationship and officially divorced in 2022, despite announcing their split two years earlier. They have three children together: Camden (12), Jaxon (10) and Saylor (8).

After a brief mention of Cutler's drunk driving on her podcast, Cavallari spoke about the end of her marriage.

“My heart broke in my marriage. And even though I was the one who broke up, it wasn't what I wanted. It wasn't what I imagined. And I really tried to do everything I could.”

“It's just heartbreaking when you want something so bad but you just can't achieve it,” she continued. “And I would say my heart was broken for years in my marriage – I mean, that was it.”

She further clarified that she wasn't trying to disparage her ex. “I don’t talk about Jay at all. I really don't. And I think, you know, I've said some things publicly,” she admitted.

“And now I don’t talk about him at all, but I have to say we’re in the best situation we’ve been in for 4.5 years.” [since the divorce] and it lasted four years.

Earlier this month, Cavallari announced that her custody agreement with Cutler had changed.

“Last fall, as you know, I still had shared custody with my ex and had every other week off from my kids,” she explained on her podcast. “And that's changed, and so now I'm really happy and really content with my life revolving around my kids and work.”
