WSU will play at Colorado State in 2025; the Virginia game has been postponed

THE STATE OF WASHINGTON 2025 The football schedule is nearing completion as it was announced Thursday that the Cougars will travel to Fort Collins to face Colorado State, the 11th announced game of the season. Wazzu will transfer to CSU on Sept. 27, playing at Canvas Stadium for the second time in three years and facing the Rams for the third time in four years. The Cougars opened the season at CSU last season and went 50-24.

This announcement also forced another change to the schedule. The Cougars were originally scheduled to play at Virginia on September 27th, but that game was postponed until October 18th. That means the Cougars will have to travel to Oxford, Miss., and Charlottesville, Va., in consecutive weeks.

This almost guarantees that the outstanding date on October 4th will be either a home game or, in all likelihood, a bye week. It's hard to predict that the Cougars will play four straight road games, and if they play on Oct. 4, they would open the season with nine straight games before a bye week.

With CSU on the schedule, Wazzu will now play four games against its future Pac-12 opponents. The Rams are expected to join the conference in 2026, as are San Diego State and Oregon State, both opponents in the 2025 season.

Colorado State is currently 4-3/2-0, with a game against New Mexico on Saturday at 2 p.m

IN ADDITION TO In addition to the road games against CSU, Virginia and Ole Miss, the Cougars are also scheduled to play at North Texas on September 13th and at Oregon State on November 1st, part of the announced home series with the Beavers on Wednesday.

In home games, the Cougars host Idaho on August 30th, San Diego State on September 6th, Washington on September 20th, Toledo on October 25th, Louisiana Tech on November 15th and Oregon State on November 29th.

So who else? Could Wazzu add to the 25 schedule? The Cougars will likely aim for another home game and although they could play on October 4th, it is most likely that either November 8th or November 22nd is the target date for the 12th game.

An interesting option is Vanderbilt. CSU was scheduled to play Vandy on Sept. 27 but switched to the Cougars instead. The 2025 SEC Conference schedule has not yet been announced, but there could be a logical pairing between the Commodores and Cougars on one of these November dates. However, that would likely include another road game, as it seems unlikely that the Cougars could attract an SEC team to Pullman in November. However, a trip to Nashville would certainly please Cougar fans.

Temple is another team with open schedules, although it would also likely have to wait for the AAC to announce its conference schedule before it could sign an agreement to play Wazzu. UMass is a team that still has one spot open as an FBS Independent on Nov. 4 and has the freedom to create its own schedule.
