Navy Federal renews title sponsorship for the NHL Stadium Series

Navy Federal Credit Union remains the title sponsor of the NHL's Stadium Series outdoor games as part of a multiyear extension of its U.S.-only marketing agreement with the league. The Virginia-based credit union, which serves current and former military members and their families, also maintains its position as the league's official military appreciation partner and continues to serve as presenting sponsor of the NHL Veterans Appreciation Night doubleheader on TNT. Financial details of the extension were not disclosed.

The NHL launched the Stadium Series in 2014 to capitalize on the popularity of its annual outdoor game, the Winter Classic (is currently sponsored by Discover), which traditionally takes place around the New Year holiday, and its Canadian counterpart, the Heritage Classic (currently title sponsor of Tim Hortons). Stadium Series games typically featured more teams than the Winter Classic and are not tied to a specific date on the calendar.

This season's Stadium Series matchup takes place March 1 at Ohio Stadiumwhere the Blue Jackets will face the Red Wings in their first-ever outdoor game. In conjunction with this event, Navy Federal will once again host its Veterans Showcase military hockey tournament, honoring veterans across the country. The league and Navy Federal will also continue Stick Tap for Service, a program designed to recognize and reward community service by hockey fans and military personnel.

NHL Vice President/Business Development Jason Jazayeri and NHL Senior Director of Business Development Max Paulsen negotiated the renewal directly with Navy Federal, which is what happened has been an NHL sponsor since 2018 and title sponsor of the Stadium Series since the 2020 edition between the Avalanche and Kings at the Air Force Academy. Coors light previously held entitlement rights for the Stadium Series.
