The Drug Task Force announces its participation in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local law enforcement agencies are working together to ensure public safety and health.

The Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force announced the participation of several partners in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26th. The event will take place at five locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The DEA, Drug Task Force, Bowling Green Police, Kentucky State Police, Smiths Grove Police, Warren County Sheriff and WKU Police Department will partner in the event.

According to a report, more than 2,000 Kentuckians died from drug overdoses in 2023. Most opioid addictions begin with prescription pills found in homes.

The goal of the initiative is to prevent prescription drug abuse by providing a safe way to dispose of them.

The five (5) collection locations in Warren County:

  • Bowling Green Police Department, 911 Kentucky Street, operated by the Drug Task Force and Bowling Green Police
  • Kentucky State Police, Post 3, 3119 Nashville Road, in Bowling Green
  • Warren County Hazardous Waste Day, 999 Lauren Avery Drive, prescription drug take-back conducted by the Warren County Sheriff's Office (hours 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • Smiths Grove City Hall, 146 South Main Street, Smiths Grove, KY, Smiths Grove Police Department Prescription Drug Take-Back
  • WKU Police Department, 1906 College Hights Blvd. Bowling Green, WKU Police Department prescription drug take-back
