Tuscumbia teen killed in Colbert County crash

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) – A 17-year-old from Tuscumbia was killed in a car accident in Colbert County on Tuesday.

According to authorities, the accident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. on Woodmont Drive near Ponderosa Drive, about four miles south of Tuscumbia.

According to authorities, the car the teenager was in left the road and crashed into an embankment. It then overturned and crashed into a power pole and a culvert.

The teenager was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and died at the scene, authorities said.

The teenager has not yet been identified.

The driver of the car, another 17-year-old from Tuscumbia, was injured and flown to an area hospital.

Two other passengers, a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old from Tuscumbia, were also injured and taken to an area hospital.

The crash is still under investigation.
