Suspect in Lee Harrison store burglary arrested blocks from crime scene

An arrest has been made in connection with the theft of more than 25 cell phones after hours from a store at the Lee-Harrison Shopping Center.

A 25-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday (Tuesday) when police executed a search warrant, police said. It happened at a home on N. Florida Street in the Yorktown neighborhood, less than a half-mile from the electronics store he is accused of breaking into earlier this month, a witness told ARLnow.

On Oct. 1, an employee at Cell Depot in the Lee-Harrison Shopping Center reported that someone broke the store's glass door and entered the store around 1:30 a.m., collecting equipment before fleeing the scene.

The incident was caught on the store's surveillance cameras and the store owner said he tracked the suspect to a nearby residence. According to police, through further investigation, law enforcement was able to obtain a search warrant for the suspect's home.

The investigation also revealed evidence that the suspect fraudulently used a “known victim's” credit cards and stole jewelry, police said.

The suspect faces a total of nine charges, including three counts of grand larceny and two counts of theft with intent to sell. He was scheduled to appear in Arlington County Circuit Court this morning, according to court records.
