Las Vegas man arrested after cyberstalking incident on social media

A Las Vegas man has been charged following a cyberstalking investigation into two University of Texas at Austin employees.

Brian Solomon, 38, appeared before a judge earlier this month after being arrested by the FBI on Monday, September 16th.

According to allegations contained in the indictment, Solomon sent online messages to two high-ranking school employees threatening to hurt them both.

Authorities detailed a case in which one of the victims was scheduled to speak at the ESPYs in July 2024 and Solomon told the victim that he had purchased a ticket to the event.

While the event revoked his ticket for security reasons, the victim paid security out of his own pocket.

It was also noted that Solomon was arrested in July 2023 for vehicle burglary and criminal mischief in Austin, Texas, and then again for stalking in Nevada.

After his arrest in September, Solomon admitted that he had used multiple Instagram accounts to send several thousand direct messages to the victim and that he had become angry with her.

In addition, he admitted that he had demanded money from the victim to travel to the victim and had previously traveled to Austin by plane.

Solomon is charged with one count of interstate communications causing injury and one count of cyberstalking. If convicted, he faces the statutory maximum penalty of five years in prison.

The jury trial is scheduled for December 17, 2024.
