Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Van Gilder Street in Morgantown, where they found Vaughn with a gunshot wound to the shoulder area.

The trial began on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and concluded with the jury returning a guilty verdict on Wednesday, Oct. 16, according to Monongalia County Prosecutor Gabrielle “Gabe” Mucciola.

Hamby faces a definitive sentence of a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 40 years in prison, Mucciola said.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 27.

Mucciola said he commends the courage of the members of our community who witnessed the crime, called 911 and gave their testimony in court.
