“Steelers lose WR trade target to 2024 AFC opponent”.

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (24) and Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (10) tangle during their game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

Three former All-Pro wide receivers who were previously considered trade targets for the Pittsburgh Steelers have come and gone without the Steel City having anything to show for it. 32-year-old receiver DeAndre Hopkins has found a new quarterback to catch passes from, and unfortunately for all the Russell Wilson fans out there, it's not Mr. Unstoppable, but three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

As if Steelers fans couldn't dread the Christmas Day matchup with Kansas City any more, the Chiefs, currently undefeated at 6-0 this season, pulled off a blockbuster trade, bringing Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans for a conditional fifth Place taken – round pick.

Will Pittsburgh finally stop losing on the wide receiver trade market and bring a playmaker to a WR-needy Steelers team? While Russ will still cook, Steelers GM Omar Khan could set his quarterback up for success with such a trade.
