2 men charged with air combat ring; The director of the West Memphis Animal Shelter was bitten by 35 dogs during the arrest

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) – Two men are accused of running a dogfighting ring and one of their dogs bit the head of the West Memphis animal shelter.

On October 20, Crittenden County Sheriff's deputies responded to a possible dogfight ring at a home on Proctor Road.

When officers arrived, they found two dogs, one dead and one injured.

Police and the West Memphis Animal Shelter seized 35 dogs.

The shelter's director, Kerry Facello, was bitten on his left leg by a dog while grabbing the animals.

Benrick Comming is charged with participating in a violent criminal group, aggravated cruelty to animals, theft of a firearm under $2,500, two counts of possession of a firearm and unlawful dog attack.

Lee Reynolds is charged with engaging in client criminal group activity, aggravated cruelty to animals and general information.
