WTA Hong Kong Open 2024 draw with Shnaider, Fernandez, Boulter and the return of Simona Halep

As the WTA season nears its end, the Hong Kong Open will conclude proceedings, with the WTA 250 being the final event before the WTA Finals. The draw is now fixed.

Leylah Fernandez is the defending champion in Hong Kong and was back in form this time last year. She will face Heather Watson in the opening round and Ana Bogdan or Kimberly Birrell in the second round.

Diana Shnaider is the top seed and will face a qualifier in the first round. She lost to Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals of the Pan Pacific Open. Priscilla Hon could be waiting for her in the second round. Katie Boulter is the second seed, who also lost in the semi-finals in Tokyo. She could face Wang Xiyu in the second round.

Simona Halep will also return to the WTA main draw for the first time since Miami at the start of this season. She played at the WTA 125 in Hong Kong last month. She competes against Yue Yuan. Sofia Kenin, who will play against Qinwen Zheng in the final in Tokyo, will also travel to Hong Kong. She faces Jessika Ponchet or Wang Xinyu.
