Emergency crews battle major wildfires across Massachusetts in dry conditions – Boston News, Weather, Sports

SALEM, MASS. (WHDH) – Firefighters in Salem worked through the night to extinguish a large brush fire near the Lynn Line as a series of brush fires broke out in dry conditions across Massachusetts.

The fire broke out near the Walmart on Highland Avenue, sending a large plume of smoke billowing across the neighborhood.

Emergency crews could be seen using ladder trucks to run water pipes into the forest where brush and trees were burning.

The area was still smoky and smoldering Sunday morning, and firefighters said crews would remain on scene throughout the day to extinguish hot spots.

No injuries were reported.

Another bushfire burned in Weston on Sunday, where firefighters worked to contain the flames.

Additional fires were reported in Millbury and Beverly.
