Aiken man charged with assault/attempted murder three years later

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – A 33-year-old has been arrested in connection with a 2021 shooting, we learned Wednesday from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

According to authorities, Aiken County deputies said they responded to Turnbull Circle in Graniteville on April 4, 2021 for a shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said they saw the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported by emergency medical services, authorities said.

According to the report, officers found two shell casings on the ground near the victim.

One witness told officers who the complainant was and the other invited the victim to hang out.

According to the report, a suspect then showed up to pick up one of the witnesses.

The victim then left the home to talk to the suspect and the suspect shot him, authorities said.

The second witness confirmed the information to authorities and said he heard two gunshots outside, then saw the victim trying to escape and then falling bleeding on the sidewalk.

The complainant told officers she tried to stop the victim from going outside to talk to the suspect. She said she then saw the suspect pull out what looked like a handgun and start shooting, firing only two shots.

According to the report, the suspect then fled the scene in a black vehicle.

Coalie D. Garvin, 33, of Aiken, was arrested Oct. 22 and charged with assault/attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, according to jail records.
