Teen in custody accused of shooting a 15-year-old in Norman Tuesday night

A 15-year-old is in custody and another was injured following a reported shooting in Norman Tuesday night, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene around 7:27 p.m. on Tuesday, they found a 15-year-old girl with a gunshot wound, according to police.

The crime scene was near 24th Avenue Southeast and Lindsey Street.

According to police, the girl was taken to a local hospital where she remains with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, a 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

According to police, the two teenagers were involved in an argument when the boy shot the victim. According to police, the suspect then fled the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police said that while the incident occurred in the area behind Reagan Elementary School, no school staff or students were involved or present.
