The Patriots trade OLB Josh Uche to the Chiefs for the 2026 sixth-round pick

A second-round pick in 2020, Uche was a rotational edge rusher in his four-plus seasons in New England. He has started just four games in his career. A breakout season with 11.5 sacks in 2022 didn't last. Uche only scored three QB takedowns in 2023 and has two to seven games in 2024.

Uche had the chance to sign elsewhere in March but returned to New England on a one-year deal. That lasted just eight weeks into the season before the Pats moved on with little return.

Giving up a future late-rounder for a player with potential is a stunning move by Chiefs general manager Brett Veach. With Michael Danna dealing with an injury, KC desperately needed something. The addition of Uche gives defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo another piece of the rotation along with George Karlaftis and Felix Anudike-Uzomah.

The NFL's only undefeated team rebounded on Monday. And it didn't cost much.
