Kettering man sentenced to 20 years in prison for murder of 19-year-old

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) – A man convicted of murdering a 19-year-old was sentenced Wednesday, October 23rd.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says Eric Ball II, 20, of Kettering was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the murder of 19-year-old Terry Martin Jr.

In the late morning hours of Sunday, July 9, 2023, Moraine Police Officers were dispatched to a drive-by shooting in the 2700 block of Gladstone Street. When they arrived, they found Martin dead.

Further investigation reveals that Ball drove past the victim's home and fired several shots from a .40 caliber Glock into the home, striking the victim in the head and neck, killing him.

On August 9, 2024, Ball pleaded guilty to one count of murder.

On October 2, 2024, he filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea.

Ball withdrew his request to withdraw his plea and was sentenced Wednesday to a total of 20 years to life in prison.
