Tests show Packers CB Jaire Alexander avoided a serious knee injury

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love avoided a serious groin injury in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Packers also believe cornerback Jaire Alexander avoided a serious knee injury after testing on Monday.

According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, an MRI on Alexander's knee revealed no significant damage and there is still a chance he can play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Alexander appeared to be injured on the Packers' last defensive play. He tried to throw a pass into the end zone, but tight end Evan Engram jumped up to catch the touchdown and Alexander limped away on one leg behind the play.

Tests on Monday ruled out the worst case scenario. Alexander, a two-time All-Pro, has two interceptions and is tied for the team lead in passes defended through eight games in 2024.

When asked Monday, Matt LaFleur had no update on Alexander. The Packers won't practice or release an injury report until Wednesday.

In addition to the good news on Love and Alexander, CheeseheadTV's Aaron Nagler reported that safety Evan Williams has a chance to play against the Lions despite missing part of Sunday's win with a hamstring injury, and SI.com's Bill Huber reported reported running back Josh Jacobs is ready to play on Sunday after being evaluated for a lower leg issue late in the win.
