The Seahawks are trading Jerome Baker, the Titans' fourth-round pick, for Ernest Jones as part of a linebacker swap

The Titans acquired Jones in August in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams for a 2026 pick swap (fifth-round for sixth-round). Trading him for a fourth-rounder and another player two months later is a pretty good job by GM Ran Carthon. After the DeAndre Hopkins news on Wednesday morning, it's clear that Carthon is burning the phones ahead of the NFL trade deadline on November 5th.

Jones continued his stellar play from LA to Tennessee, where he helped lead a strong Titans defense that leads the NFL in total yards allowed per game (272.2). In six games, Jones has generated 44 tackles, including three for losses and two passes defended. He is on track for the third consecutive season and has more than 100 tackles.

The NFC West-leading Seahawks had a glaring need in the middle of their defense, which has been overrun at times this season. Baker started five games in Seattle this season, recording 30 tackles, two for a loss and one sack.

Jones now has a chance to face his former Rams teammates twice this season, in Week 9 and Week 18.
