Here's your chance to see the Big Boy locomotive in Greeley on Wednesday

Those wanting to see Big Boy No. 4014, the largest operating steam locomotive in the world, have their chance Wednesday in Greeley.

The popular train will be on public display during its whistle stop on October 23rd from 12:35 p.m. to 1:05 p.m. at Union Pacific's 10th Street crossing in Greeley. The event is free.

The public is asked to maintain a distance of 25 feet from all train tracks at the stop. This also includes drones.

The stop marks the final leg of the steam locomotive's eight-week, 10-state Heartland of American Tour before returning to Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The tour covered Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas before ending in Colorado.

The 132-foot-long, 1.2 million-pound Big Boy is the only one of the 25 locomotives of this type built during World War II that is still in service.
