BALTIMORE – John Callis, the defendant Attack on two 23-year-old men in Federal Hill after a Ravens-Washington Commanders football game last weekend, is being held without bail.

According to police, Callis was shown in a viral video wearing a Baltimore Ravens jersey and attacking the two men wearing Commanders jerseys. He turned into the police on Tuesday.

Callis' attorney, Brian Thompson, argued that Callis would not flee.

“He has one of the most recognizable faces in the country right now,” Thompson said. “This wasn’t someone who was thinking rationally.”

He also said Callis was “overwhelmed” and told the judge: “As ugly as the video is – these are beatings. Nobody pulled out a weapon. Nobody pulled out a knife. These injuries simply do not rise to the level of first-degree assault.”

Judge LaTina Burse Greene said: “The evidence is strong.” She called the attack on Commanders fans “clearly an unprovoked attack.”

Greene will soon have a Zoom call with prosecutors and defense attorneys about a residential treatment facility where she may consider releasing Callis.
