One Shot on Fisher Ferry: Incident details and investigation update

VICKSBURG, MS – One person was shot on Fisher Ferry, just outside the city limits.

A man was shot at 320 Fisher Ferry around 8:30 p.m. The incident resulted from an argument involving several people at that location. The injured man, a 27-year-old with an address in Utica, then drove themselves to the home of a relative, who then drove them to an area hospital.

Evidence at the scene indicates the victim may have been injured while in his vehicle at the Fisher Ferry address.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, investigators located and impounded the victim's vehicle.

Sheriff Pace said the investigation into the Fisher Ferry shooting is early in the investigation and will release more information as needed.

The Vicksburg Daily News will update this story when this information is released.

Last night there was a shooting on Hillside Drive in the city. A house was reportedly hit by bullets in the incident. Vicksburg police have not released any information about this shooting. Several people reported the shooting to the Vicksburg Daily News.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ranked Mississippi as having the highest rate of gun deaths in the country 29.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. That's a little more than double the national rate of 14.2 gun deaths per 100,000 residents.
