Google updates URL structure and favicon and adds Google Trends documentation

Google has added a new search document to Google Trends while also making some small updates to the URL structure, best practices documentation, and favicons documentation. Google has created many videos around Google Trends, so the new documentation on the topic is no surprise.

(1) The URL structure best practices documentation (here) has been updated to “make it easier to find guidance on URL parameters, as they were previously only mentioned in the faceted navigation blog post,” Google said.

Added to this document the following, which was already documented in this Google post:

(2) In the Favicon documentation, Google has “updated the Favicon Guidelines to specify that favicons must have a 1:1 aspect ratio and be at least 8 x 8 pixels in size, with a strong recommendation for using a favicon with a higher Resolution of at least 48 x 48 pixels,” said Google.

What I highlighted in orange is what was added, this line: “Your favicon must be a square (1:1 aspect ratio) with a size of at least 8 x 8 pixels. Although the minimum size is 8 x 8 pixels, we recommend using a favicon larger than 48 x 48 pixels so that it looks good on various surfaces. Any valid favicon format is supported.

(3) New Google Trends documentation has been added. Google said: “Google Trends can help you better understand how people find information on Google Search, which can help you develop your content strategy and refine the way you speak to your audience .”
