Monday wasn't pretty for the New York Giants, even after Big Blue finally reached the end zone for his first touchdown in two dozen drives. The Giants faced the Pittsburgh Steelers to close out Week 8 and pulled to within one score thanks to a catch-and-run touchdown by Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the fourth quarter, only to have one of the most unlikely – and unsuccessful – hits. Two-point attempts in the recent past.

Trailing 23-15 with 11:07 to go, head coach Brian Daboll chose a trick formation with just three blockers lining up in front of quarterback Daniel Jones. Pass catcher Darius Slayton split wide to the right, and the remaining six offensive players huddled together near the opposite sideline. Jones then fired a screen pass to wideout Malik Nabers, seemingly giving the speedy rookie a chance to roll into the end zone behind the massive block wall that outnumbered surrounding defenders five to three.

The only problem? Not a single one of those blockers moved when Jones took the shotgun snap, leaving Steelers pass rusher Alex Highsmith free to hit Nabers as the ball reached his hands. The pass was incomplete, Nabers didn't have a shot to make the catch, and Jones yelled his frustration, angry that his entire line didn't recognize his snap count on such a crucial play. That or Jones, Daboll and the rest of the offensive operation failed to get the blockers on the right rhythm.

In any case, the attempt was an utter failure and helped keep Pittsburgh comfortably on top.
