Truck crashes on I-57, spilling fruit onto highway – NBC Chicago

A truck carrying fruit on Interstate 57 crashed just before noon Wednesday, spilling food onto the highway and forcing traffic to be rerouted.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred just before noon Wednesday near the intersection of Interstate 57 and Interstate 80.

The single-vehicle crash left scattered fruit on the highway and forced Illinois State Police to reroute northbound traffic to the east side of Interstate 80.

According to police, Interstate 57 is expected to be closed for several hours for an investigation and cleanup.

One person was taken to hospital, but the extent of their injuries was unknown at this time.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
