Significant weather changes, cooler temperatures and windy conditions are in store for Tucson

Tucson weather: Tucson residents can expect a significant change in the weather as cooler temperatures and windy conditions move into the region this week. After a series of unseasonably hot days, the National Weather Service has predicted a refreshing break starting Monday, October 29, 2024.

Breezy start to the week

As a low pressure system approaches, Tucson will experience breezy to breezy conditions with sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph beginning Monday afternoon. Meteorologist April Madison notes that this windy weather will continue into Tuesday, causing a significant drop in temperatures.

Temperature drop

The high temperature on Tuesday is expected to drop to a much cooler mid-70s from Monday's mid-90s, with a forecast high of 74 degrees. A similar high of 75 degrees will be reached on Wednesday, while temperatures will rise slightly to 81 degrees on Thursday. This sudden drop in temperature will likely surprise many residents, especially those unfamiliar with the significant change.

Frosty temperatures in the valleys

Areas south and east of Tucson may experience freezing temperatures in the coldest valleys. This 10 to 20 degree drop is part of a larger trend as seasonal temperatures return Thursday through Saturday.

Upcoming weather systems

Looking ahead, another weather system is expected to move into the region early next week, potentially bringing further cooling and unsettled weather. While the details of this system are still being evaluated, it serves as a reminder that Tucson's weather can change quickly.
