The Barbershop Quartet sings “What A Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong

“I also see green trees, red roses; I see them blooming for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I see a blue sky and white clouds, the bright, blessed day
The dark, holy night, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.”

This classic song was performed live during the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2023 Midwinter Convention at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida. And the quartet performs the song beautifully under the name Party of Five.

The barbershop quartet all wear matching outfits, all sing different parts of the song and harmonize so beautifully. Their performance definitely puts a smile on your face and it's clear to see that they also enjoy giving the audience a great show.

The lyrics and music for the song “What A Wonderful World” were written by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele and recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1967 for ABC Records. The song was created as a piece that, given its optimism and celebration of life, would help overcome the racial tensions and political unrest of 1960s America. However, due to a lack of promotion, it did not achieve success as a single upon its initial release in the United States.

The song was a number one hit in the UK in the 1960s and a top 20 hit in Italy in the 1970s. It finally entered the United States charts in the 1980s after being featured in the 1987 Robin Williams film Good Morning, Vietnam. In 1999, Louis Armstrong's version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

We hope you enjoyed listening to this Barbershop Quartet version of “What A Wonderful World” today!
