Man accused of stealing Halloween decorations in Conway

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A man is accused of spooky behavior after police say he stole Halloween decorations from a town known for celebrating the holiday.

Trey Dukes, 22, of Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina, stole $810 worth of decorations from the city of Conway on Laurel Street Friday evening, according to arrest warrants obtained by WMBF News.

A spokesperson for the Conway Police Department provided WMBF News with two surveillance images that reportedly show Dukes in the area that night.

Conway police arrested Dukes on Monday and charged him with petit or simple theft under $2,000. Jail records indicate that Dukes remains housed at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center as of this writing.

Conway has become known for its Halloween celebrations in recent years and will be nicknamed the “City of Halloween” as of 2022. The nickname remains throughout the entire month of October.
