A vigil is to be held for Bangor women who were strangled

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A vigil will be held tonight for a Bangor woman who police say was strangled by her ex-boyfriend last month.

Richard Thorpe, 42, is accused of killing 39-year-old Virginia Cookson at her home on Larkin Street in Bangor.

Partners for Peace is holding a vigil for Cookson and all victims of domestic violence in Cascade Park.

They encourage those who want to attend to bring flowers and wear purple.

Resources are available from 4 to 5 p.m.

The candlelight vigil will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
