Diontae Johnson is having a solid season with the Carolina Panthers despite Denver head coach Sean Payton calling it “not a good offense.”

The former Pittsburgh Steeler has 30 receptions, 357 yards and three touchdowns through the first eight weeks of the season.

As the best receiver on a bad team that's going nowhere fast, Rapoport called the 28-year-old a “logical trade target” and reported: “Carolina has been getting calls, even though they won't simply trade away one of their best players.”

The team is also listening to calls for its other starting receiver, Adam Thielen.

It's hard to imagine that the Panthers would give up their best playmaker in Johnson. Whether it's Andy Dalton or Bryce Young, the quarterback needs it someone to throw, and the experienced speedster is that guy.

Even the 34-year-old Thielen is coming off a 103-catch, 1,014-yard season and can still be a benefit to the team.

If the Panthers actively acquire either player, they will likely have an easier time releasing Thielen, which could be a boon for a receiver who was one of the league's most reserved best during his time with Minnesota.

Prediction: Carolina trades Thielen while Johnson stays with the Panthers
