Madison man charged with hate crime after parking dispute

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Officers with the Madison Police Department arrested a 24-year-old man Monday after he allegedly chased his neighbor with a tire iron during a dispute over a parking space.

MPD stated in its report that they responded to a residence on the 1800 block of Helene Parkway around 12:10 p.m.

Police determined the suspect allegedly used the weapon to damage the entrance to the residence and a vehicle. He also allegedly used racial slurs during the altercation.

MPD said the Madison man was arrested and taken to the Dane County Jail. He is charged with disorderly conduct with a weapon and criminal damage to property. Both charges have a hate crime enhancer.
