Heartspring remembers “esteemed colleague” who died in a stolen vehicle accident

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – 12 News learn more about a Woman who died in an accident involving a stolen vehicle on Monday.

The accident occurred at 29th Street and Wilderness, near Webb Road. Mandy Buckwalter, 43, of Hutchinson, died at the scene.

Heartspring said Buckwalter worked as a residential assistant at the organization's therapeutic school. Heartspring is a nonprofit organization that cares for children with special needs and developmental disabilities.

Heartspring said Buckwalter was a “valued colleague who made a lasting difference in the lives of the children” she cared for through Heartsrping.

“We are grateful to have experienced her warmth, dedication and genuine spirit during her three years at Heartspring. “Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time,” it concludes.

Wichita police arrested the woman accused of driving the stolen vehicle that hit Buckwalter. A man was also arrested in connection with the case.
