Two teenagers allegedly steal a car and crash it in Lewis Co.

CROGHAN TOWNSHIP, N.Y. (WWNY) – Two 16-year-olds are facing charges following a vehicle accident in the Town of Croghan.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to the scene of an accident on Long Pond Road before 6 a.m. on the morning of October 6th.

According to the sheriff's office, the vehicle was unoccupied when officers arrived. Upon further investigation, they discovered that the truck had been stolen from an address on State Route 812 in the town of Croghan prior to the accident.

Officials say the two 16-year-olds took the vehicle that morning and caused an accident with it. Because of her age, authorities are not releasing her identity.

One of the juveniles is charged with Grand Theft in the 4th Degree, a Class E Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor and Traffic Tickets.

The other juvenile was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.
