Prosecutors are demanding prison for ex-teacher who made “disgusting” children’s videos

Prosecutors are asking a Hamilton County judge today to sentence a former elementary school teacher who possessed and trafficked images and videos depicting children being sexually abused to an extended prison sentence.

Amit Netanel, 62, used his Kik accounts to upload the material, court documents say. According to the documents, when Kik closed one of his accounts because of the illegal videos and images, Netanel hid his identity under the name “Jerryjerry1234567” to continue searching for and chatting with other Kik users about child sexually abusive material.

Investigators found that Netanel “regularly engaged in vile, sexual chat messages with other users,” the documents said. In some messages made earlier this year, according to the documents, Netanel discussed his sexual attraction to young children.

Prosecutors said his behavior spanned at least four years.

In one conversation, according to court documents, Netanel described himself as “a pervert, pedophile” and said, “I like 6 to 14.” In another conversation, according to the documents, Netanel and another user discussed how the only option was to have sex with children have, consists of “raping” them.

According to the documents, Netanel was then teaching second and third graders at Rockwern Academy, a private Jewish school on Montgomery Road in Sycamore Township. The children in his classroom were between 7 and 9 years old.

He has not taught at Rockwern Academy since June.

The videos owned and shared by Netanel, described in court documents, are horrific. Some show children between the ages of 3 and 6 being sexually abused.

Netanel pleaded guilty in September to three counts of inciting sexual conduct involving a minor.

In a sentencing memorandum, prosecutors said the creation and distribution of the material Netanel had only increased demand for “new and more egregious images,” perpetuating the ongoing sexual abuse of children.

“Netanel and others treated child rape videos like currency,” prosecutors said, using them “to get more sadistic content from other people.”

The case is before Common Pleas Judge Jennifer Branch. In each case, Netanel faces between two and eight years in prison.
