Gas leak leads to evacuation of Michigan State campus

Construction workers were evacuated from the area and university police, East Lansing Fire Department and Consumers Energy were on scene early Tuesday afternoon, MSU spokesman Mark Bullion said.

The leak occurred after a construction crew hit a gas line, he said.

No classes were affected until about 1 p.m., although people were asked to avoid the area, he said.
