The suspect accused of shooting and killing an Abilene man at a local bar has turned himself in.

Smith was shot multiple times in the parking lot west of the bar and taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Documents State officials did not initially know Evans' name, but the incident was captured on surveillance video.

According to court documents, the video showed a verbal altercation between the two men and Smith slapped Evans.

After asking Smith to leave the bar, Evans walked to his truck in the parking lot, where he appeared to be waiting for Smith.

As Smith left the bar and walked toward his own vehicle in the parking lot, Evans confronted Smith and pointed a gun at him.

Evans allegedly shot Smith “at least twice.” Court documents further state that Smith did not appear to be armed at any time during this incident.

After Smith was shot, Evans got into his truck and drove away without attempting to help Smith or contact police.

Although police didn't know Evans' full name, a bartender told them he called himself “Ant” and thought his first name might be Anthony.

Police were able to locate Evans' vehicle using the license plate and license plate readers around Abilene, which tagged and photographed the truck near and at the bar.

Officers were able to identify Evans as a suspect after determining he was the owner of the vehicle and matching surveillance footage to his identity.

Abilene police announced Monday afternoon that Evans had turned himself in to authorities.
