CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – A man is accused of threatening someone with a knife.

Benjamin Jones, 40, of Cape Girardeau, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and a Class E felony of resisting arrest.

He is currently being held on a $20,000 cash bond.

According to Cape Girardeau Police, on Sunday, October 28, officers responded to the 1100 block of Broadway at approximately 1:30 p.m. for a report of a weapons violation.

The victim told police that the suspect, later identified as Jones, approached him around 8 a.m. carrying a knife and a stick sharpened at one end.

The victim said Jones told him he would “see her around” and walked away.

At about 1:30 p.m., the victim said Jones approached him again with a green pocket knife with the blade exposed. The victim said Jones approached him aggressively and stopped just a few feet away.

He said Jones didn't say anything and eventually walked away.

Officers found Jones and said he had a pocket knife, which the victim confirmed was the same one when he approached him.

Jones was taken into custody and later formally charged by prosecutors.
