Abbot and Burcham intersection closed due to gas leak, Hannah Community Center remains open – East Lansing Info

The intersection of Burcham Drive and Abbot Road is currently closed due to a gas leak. Ingham County's RAVE Alert System alerted residents today (October 29) at 2:13 p.m.

East Lansing Communications Director Carrie Sampson told ELi via email that the gas leak was related to a Crown Castle contractor hitting a gas line and that Consumers Energy was contacted to resolve the issue. As of 2:48 p.m., Sampson said there was no timeline for reopening the intersection.

The Hannah Community Center, which currently houses an Early Voting Center, will remain open. The building can still be reached via side streets. From the south this would be Fern Street to Evergreen Avenue to get to the main parking lot. From the north, motorists can take Centerlawn Avenue to Forest Street to either get to the overflow lot or continue to the main lot on Evergreen Avenue, Sampson said in an email to ELi.

The Early Voting Center at the Hannah Community Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through November 3rd

There will be another road closure on MAC Avenue from Burcham Drive to Linden Street starting at 3 p.m. today. This closure is for MSU Fraternity and Sorority Life's SAFE Halloween event, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m., Sampson said.
