School resource officer charged with domestic violence-related offenses: Buckeye PD

Officials with the Buckeye Police Department say one of their school resource officers has been arrested.

The arrest was announced in a statement released on the afternoon of October 29th.

“The Buckeye Police Department has learned that School Resource Officer David Ellison was arrested by Goodyear Police last evening on allegations of domestic violence against a family member,” part of the statement read. “These allegations are troubling and inconsistent with our core values ​​of integrity, safety, respect and compassion.”

Buckeye police said they are cooperating with the criminal investigation being conducted by Goodyear police. The matter is also the subject of an internal investigation.

“Officer Ellison has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation, which is standard protocol,” reads part of the statement from the Buckeye Police Department.

According to the statement, Ellison served as a school resource officer at Verrado High School for more than a decade.

“We have notified the school district and designated an officer to assume SRO duties at Verrado High School,” part of the statement read.
