New Pokemon leak may reveal Pokemon Legends: ZA starter

The Pokémon Legends: ZA starters may have been leaked. This month, Pokemon fans have been inundated with Pokemon leaks featuring Pokemon games of yesterday, Pokemon games of the present, and Pokemon games of the future. And that's because Game Freak – the developer responsible for producing the series – fell victim to a massive data breach.

The latest Pokemon leak concerns the starters of Pokemon Legends: ZA, which is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2025 on the Nintendo Switch and possibly the Nintendo Switch 2 as well, based on previous leaks. Although Game Freak and Nintendo are already in sight, they haven't said or shown anything about the game since its release. When that will change remains to be seen, but many parts of the game have now been leaked.

The latest leak doesn't directly affect Pokemon Legends: ZA, but the implications extend to the upcoming sequel Pokemon Legends: Arceus. More specifically, the key art for the 2025 Pokémon World Championships has been leaked and features three random Pokémon starters from previous Pokémon games. To that end, they will presumably be the three starters chosen for Pokemon Legends: ZA.

The three starters are the Generation 6 starters, also known as Pokemon X and Y starters. In other words: Chespin, Froakie and Fennekin. Given the game's setting – Lumiose City of Pokemon X & Y – this isn't all that surprising. However, at the moment it's just speculation based on the central art leak from the 2025 Pokémon World Championships. The central art leak is real, but it remains to be seen whether it is related to Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Why these three starters would be included if they weren't the starters of the major Pokémon release in 2025 is not immediately clear. However, the key arts from past Pokémon World Championships haven't always had anything to do with this year's major Pokémon game, so it's possible there's no truth to that.

Of course, everything here should be treated with caution, as with any leak, especially one with so much speculation. As for Game Freak, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, no one has commented on this latest leak and the speculation it has sparked.
