Police say 41-year-old Bonnie Hitchens was shot in a vehicle in a store parking lot on East Greene Street on Saturday.

A 31-year-old man in the car was also shot and injured. Family members identified him as Hitchens' longtime friend.

Investigators said 34-year-old Eric Bundy-Johnson and 34-year-old Francessca Delvalle were both arrested Sunday and charged with murder and other crimes.

According to an affidavit, a car driven by Delvalle pulled in front of the victim's vehicle where a verbal altercation ensued.

Delvalle was reportedly caught shouting accusations allegedly involving the father of her child and Hitchens.

Shortly afterward, authorities allege Bundy-Johnson exited the vehicle wearing a mask and fired four shots into the car before fleeing the scene.

During an interview with police after his arrest, Bundy-Johnson claimed he “blacked out” and shot both victims “because he felt like people were constantly trying to outwit him,” charging documents say.

Delvalle allegedly told police that Bundy-Johnson was the father of her child and that he fired the fatal shots. She also allegedly told police that she tried to stop Bundy-Johnson from getting out of the car.

Using surveillance video, officers were able to track down the vehicle.

“My mother didn't deserve this,” Hitchens' daughter told Action News over the weekend. “She wasn’t a bad person. She wasn’t a bad person at all.”

“I’m still trying to understand it all,” added Shardinae Wise, the man’s sister. “I’m trying to figure out exactly why this happened.”

Wise said her brother, who is in stable condition, also struggled to understand how such a tragic situation became his reality.

Both suspects are being held in the Cumberland County Jail.
