Motorcyclist killed in Arlington Heights crash – NBC Chicago

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with two other vehicles near the border of Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect, police said.

According to authorities, the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Waterman Road, with most of the accident occurring in the Arlington Heights jurisdiction.

Officials said a Genesis coupe was traveling eastbound on Northwest Highway near Waterman Road, while a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on the same road, in front of a Hyundai sedan that was also in was traveling in a westerly direction.

The driver of the Genesis coupe, a 16-year-old, turned left and crashed into both the motorcycle and the sedan.

The first responders found that the motorcyclist was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after resuscitation efforts by paramedics.

According to police, Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights is closed in both directions between Gregory Street and Evanston Avenue due to a serious accident.

Traffic on Waterman Road south of Gregory Street was blocked and authorities are investigating the crash.

The driver was accused of failing to yield the right of way when turning left and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, authorities said.

According to police, a preliminary investigation ruled out drug or alcohol impairment on the part of the driver.

The identity of the motorcyclist remains unknown as authorities continue to notify next of kin.
