Pacific Notes: Curry, K. Anderson, Zubac, Huerter, Kessler

Stephen CurryThe sprain of the left ankle represents the first misfortune for one warrior Team that has been on the upswing since training camp, writes Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.

Curry underwent an MRI on Sunday night to determine the severity of the sprain, but Thompson noted this Rick Celebrinithe team's vice president of player health and performance, tends to be wary of injured players. Even if the sprain is mild, Curry will likely miss back-to-back games against New Orleans on Tuesday and Wednesday and may get a full week off, according to Thompson.

Thompson notes that Curry's absence will be a test of the general manager's “strength in numbers” approach Mike Dunleavy Jr. after failing to land another star in the offseason. With a wealth of wingers, coaches Steve Kerr used a 12-man rotation at the start of the season to get everyone involved. That means there will be some nights where players don't get their expected minutes, and Kerr highlighted that Kyle Anderson for your understanding this Sunday evening.

“I was only with Kyle for four minutes.” Kerr said: “And he was great on the bench in the second half, leading everyone and talking to the guys. You have to have that if you want to do this and play in front of a lot of people. Everyone has to be on board. I couldn’t have been more impressed with Kyle’s professionalism.”

There's more from the Pacific Division:

  • Ivica Zubac posted 23 points, 17 rebounds and six assists on Sunday Hair clippers according to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times at the helm of Golden State, continuing their surprising start. I try to bring my teammates the same things every night so they can rely on me. You can rely on me on both defense and offense, relying on me to rebound, protect the rim, score in the post and finish around the rim. So I try my best to achieve that intensity.”
  • Kings guard Kevin Huerter scored 14 points Saturday night, marking his first productive game since undergoing left shoulder surgery, notes Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee. After being limited to two points on opening night, Huerter was relieved when he dropped his first three-pointer. “Yeah, it felt good to get the first one.” he said. “It always does. You just have to wait for a long break like that, so it felt good to get that.”
