FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) – One person was killed and five others were injured in a head-on crash in Fallowfield Township Tuesday night.

The accident occurred along Old Rt. 71 near the Mon-Fayette Expressway around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the Washington County Coroner's Office, the accident occurred when a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck another eastbound vehicle.

One person was killed in the crash. Her age and identity have not yet been revealed.

Washington County dispatchers confirmed to KDKA-TV that four additional people were airlifted to local hospitals and another person was transported from the scene to the hospital by ambulance. The condition of these five people is unclear.

The crash is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police.
